The Founders
Dr. Sebastian Pape and Dr. Kristian Beckers were awarded in 2016 for their research regarding Social Engineering and Serious Games with the 3rd price of the "Deutscher IT-Sicherheitspreis" (German IT-Security Price). 2017 they founded the Social Engineering Academy (SEA) GmbH.
Dr. Kristian Beckers
Dr.-Ing. Kristian Beckers is a senior researcher and security consultant focusing on structured methods in software engineering. The scope of his work has been extended to privacy, safety and trust. Recently he also focused on serious games and social engineering.
His work was published in over 50 peer reviewed papers in scientific conferences and has been applied in industry projects. Kristian studied computer science at the University Hamburg with a strong focus on security engineering and human factors. He worked for NEC Europe Ltd. in Heidelberg, the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering ISST in Dortmund and the SIEMENS CT in Munich (ongoing). Kristian did his PhD at paluno - The Ruhr Institute of Software Technology -, University Duisburg-Essen, Germany. Followed by a postdoc in the University Duisburg-Essen as well as the Technical University Munich (TUM).
Dr. Sebastian Pape
Dr. rer. nat. Sebastian Pape is a senior researcher at Goethe University Frankfurt.
The scope of his work is security, privacy and security/privacy management with a focus on human factors. Most recent work includes research on serious games and social engineering.
Altogether, he has published more than 30 peer reviewed scientific papers and held more than 40 speeches at conferences and workshops. Sebastian holds diplomas in mathematic and computer science from Darmstadt University of Technology and did his PhD at Kassel University. Before he moved to Frankfurt, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at Technical University Dortmund. Sebastian was involved in several national and European funded projects with a broad range on topics in security and privacy.
The Experts
Ludger Goeke is senior consultant and trainer at the Social Engineering Academy (SEA) GmbH. He is a cybersecurity consultant for over a decade. His tasks include the conception and accomplishment of consulting and training offers in the theme of social engineering and security awareness. Additionally, he coordinates the development of online training tools and participates at research activities. Ludger’s expertise includes cybersecurity context and risk analysis, system engineering, social engineering and serious games.
Ludger’s work has been published in several peer reviewed articles and papers. He owns a diploma in computer science of the University of Applied Science and Arts Dortmund. After his studies, he worked as a consultant at the ITESYS Institute of Technical Systems GmbH with a thematic focus on information security. During his work at the ITESEYS GmbH he also participated in a research project. For two and a half years, Ludger was additionally an employee at the University Duisburg-Essen. His work at the at the University Duisburg-Essen included primary research activities.
The Collaborations
Kristina Femmer is a freelance media designer and In-house Consultant for the Social Engineering Academy (SEA) GmbH. Kristina lives with her husband and her little daughter in Munich. Kristina completed her apprenticeship as a media designer for digital and print media in an advertising agency in Münster from August 2008 to January 2011. Some of her customers are a graphics department of an advertising agency, sports clubs and other social institutions and of course various companies and private individuals.
Kristina's specialty is print media. To create new concepts and designs, from flyers to posters, infographics, logos, exhibition stands to card games, and to empathize again and again with the new target group, fills her with great pleasure. Kristina loves to tackle new challenges, to let her creativity run free and to let colors, shapes and typographies come together. At the same time, it is important for her to always be at the customer's side with help and advice. Because when customer is convinced of the product and they hold the result in their hands smilingly, she has done a fantastic job.
